I get asked this question by almost every new business owner. The answer is always the same and it works. I always tell them that you need to start by validating your online opportunity. This means research and analysis related to your target, your competitors and your industry and how it uses the web for marketing. You should always get feedback from your intended target on your domain name, brand identity, messaging and web prescence all along the way in online marketing and especially in the beginning. Further, it is important that you test along the way and don’t make huge commitments upfront.
